Malone and Hutch

This has aged off the forum at OceanCity.com, but it's too good to lose.

So how do you like Shenanigan's, Nancy, and what do you like about it?

I'd like to add that Shenanigan's has about 20 different sandwiches from corned beef to a variety of burgers, hot dogs and Irish sausage. Sandwiches run about $6. Their onion rings are awesome, the crab soup and salads are great. They also have littleneck clams, steamed shrimp, Alaskan crab legs, and fried shrimp in a basket. Our favorite though, is the hot crab and shrimp dip served with hot crusty french bread! We've been going to Shenanigan's several times every summer for about 10 years. My kids were practically raised in that place and it continues to be their favorite as they are now 17 and 19. Is it because of the food? That's part of it. We've never had a bad meal there, nor gone away hungry. But the thing that keeps us most is an Irish band called Malone & Hutch. We schedule our vacations in OC around when this awesome band is scheduled to play (especially when they are joined by Mr. Jim Bennett!) The entertainment schedule is listed on Shenanigan's website. Malone & Hutch sing and play (guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin) traditional Irish folk tunes, drinking songs, and an occasional "naughty" tune, according to the crowd. They also include some old American favorites, rock & roll and some just plain silly songs. They come down to the beach about 5 times per year, all the way from Connecticut & Rhode Island, just to play at Shenanigan's, and have been doing so for 23 years. This band is so much fun because of the humor laced into their act and the audience participation in so many of their songs. By now, my family knows all the words to most of the songs and we love to sing along (and clap at the appointed cue, and yell at the appointed cue). Malone & Hutch have a loyal following that wouldn't miss an opportunity to enjoy the show for anything. What can I say? We LOVE this band! We always have a total blast when we take in the show. We stay all evening and sing & clap & yell & laugh & smile the night away. Even when my kids were little, we stayed up until the wee hours so that we wouldn't miss a single song! By the way, you can get a feel for who they are because they now have a long-overdue website, called, what else? MaloneandHutch.com
