4th of July 2010

Artwork by Ian Scott Schaffner of W. VA.
A special surprise guest was Kristie Smith from Pennsylvania, who came with her parents.
Kristie was our first ever guest mandolin player.
She sang and played "Molly Malone" and "Me and Bobbie McGee."
That's Bobbie McGee in the picture, oh no, it's Malone, but you know what I mean.
Later, she and her parents joined in the Unicorn Dance.
The Kazoos gave a return engagement.
More art by Ian, thanks!
Those new stage lights are different from the old ones.
So much more intense.
Hurray, it's the real Kazoos! I thought they were around here someplace.
Now they have a vocal duet to go with harmonica duet.
All the photos are from Dave Smith's camera, Kristie's Dad that is. Thanks a lot Dave!

Back again, with Dr. Kazoo on bass.
Dr. Bill took this one.
The Kazoo Family Players.
Looking good, sounding pretty.

Dr. Bill, rocking the joint.
This comes from Dr. Bill's camera. Must have been Dana who took this one.
Fourth of July 2008

A little before showtime.
Fireworks were early this year, just ahead of an approaching storm,
so the band missed them again! A tradition in the making.

We missed Fran and Ed and the fanciful decorations this year,
along with the fireworks.

Some might consider one banjo to be more than enough.
What's this then?

The McGraths show their colors!
Carolyn McNeirney sent this, and captioned it herself, to save us the effort.
If you can't read the caption, click the pic to see it full size.
Jim McGrath is doing his best to show Kerrianne all the right moves.
Another from Carolyn McNeirney. The caption says:
Jack McNeirney #1 fan since the age of 6 months.
We try to go to bed by 8 except when Malone is at Shenanigans!
Catch them young, that's the plan.
This one shows both the stars-and-stripes guitars.
It would be nice to have a picture showing both of them in action.
Jeff and Gerry, rattling the bog.
Hugh appears to be scanning the sky, for incoming paper planes perhaps?
Fourth of July, 2005
Pictures! We got pictures! On the Boardwalk, to set the theme:
Remember that shot of the blackboard back on Page 2? We seem to have acquired a few more adjectives since then.
Infamous ... that means, like, insanely famous, right? right?

Before the show begins, Mrs. McGrath shows us how a Parrothead sees the world.

The Pittburgh cousins stopped in for a few pints.
Left to right, that's Ashley Carey, age 9; Jessica Conley, age 6; Samantha Stark, age 7;
Amanda Carey, age 7; Luke Barone, age 8.

Dr. Kazoo brought Zack and Olivia, who just keep getting better on that harmonica duet. Together, they are The Kazoo Family Players.
A little later on, a few more young people showed up.
The girls of the County Cork.

Doctor Bill, the hardest working doctor in show business.
Remember the shorts? If you don't remember the shorts, scroll down a little ways.
Big John has discovered yet another use for the shorts!
Thanks to Fran, who brought all kinds of decorations and goodies, Hutch was able to look over Malone's shoulder as we flew into the wackysphere.
If you look close, you'll see that Hutch is holding the shorts.
Oh, never mind looking close, here's the picture. Thanks again, Fran!

Labor Day, 2004:
MacNamara's Band!
The leader of the band steps it out.

Why, preparing for the parade, of course! Love those band uniforms!

After that, things started to get wild.

Gotta love those shorts!

![]() | On stage with Malone and Hutch (and Mr. Bennett) is John Powers, Mayor of Pottsville, PA. In case you can't make it out, those are glasses of beer and shamrocks on those shorts. |
In an earlier shorts-related episode, Fran snapped this one:
Martin O'Malley, another Mayor, at left in the muscle shirt, wouldn't wear the shorts, so our pal Jim "Bloodbath" McGrath shows him how it's done.
Malone, Hutch, and Buck Mann prepare a toast to twenty-four years on the beach -- and, of course, to the glorious Fourth!
Dr. Kazoo snapped that great shot of the toast while taking a break from performing with Malone and Hutch and the Kazoo Family Players. He got a few more, too. The next four shots are from the Kazoo archive.
The good Doctor seems to be enjoying himself
Zack, Doc, and Olivia, wailing on "Margaritaville"
And offstage: Doc, Zack, Olivia

One more from the Kazoo Kamera:

this must be something a capella
It seems blurry, though, doesn't it?

Back, back, you're going back ...
back to 2003!
Bud enjoys listening to Malone and Hutch even more since his accident.
| The Old Marshal snapped this shot just before he ponied up the bail money. | ![]() |
![]() | Hutch would like to point out that the bartenders have fun at Shenanigan's, too. Here's Grimmy, singing melodiously. |
The Old Marshal brought some Frontiertown can-can dancers to Shenanigan's to try the Unicorn Dance. I remember those gator hats! I wonder where they are today. I'll bet Bud knows where the girls are!
